The Long Break
Espresso-rubbed beef tenderloin on brioche with truffle aioli & chive
Instead of compressing networking, he expanded the breaks dramatically.
Why this bite? Sam expanded breaks to 40 minutes so real conversations could happen. This unhurried, substantial bite is that design philosophy.
The Story
Sam's most radical design decision was expanding networking breaks to forty minutes or more — an act of faith that the right people, given enough time, would find the right conversations. Within minutes ballrooms reorganized into clusters: one group debating digital-native audiences, another discussing AI in attendee acquisition, others comparing sponsorship economics. None of it appeared on the official agenda. This espresso-rubbed tenderloin on brioche is that long break: substantial, unhurried, and finished with truffle because the most important conversations need the most generous space.
