Access Is the Luxury
A pre-batched, pre-chilled gin martini already poured when you reach the bar — because there can't be lines
"Access is the new luxury. Being invited to the Dolce and Gabbana event, being invited to the F1 suite and meeting Lewis Hamilton, that's the ticket." And the failure mode he names fast: "If you're doing an event, there can't be lines at the bar. Can't be dirty napkins everywhere."
Why this cocktail? The invitation is the luxury, and a line at the bar destroys it. Batched, cold, already poured.
The Story
Status migrated from the object to the invitation, because the invitation is the one thing that can't be knocked off — but it curdles the instant the room is bad, since the story the guest tells afterward becomes a story about a line. So this glass is batched hours earlier, held at temperature, and waiting when the guest arrives. The scarcity only holds if what's behind the rope was worth crossing for.
