The Borrowed Salmon
Alaskan gin, spruce tip, grapefruit and a cold-smoked rim — the fish the camera credited to somebody else
Guiding for an ESPN fishing shoot in Alaska, he hooked a thirty-pound silver salmon between takes. The producer grabbed the rod, re-hooked the fish, and handed it to the country singer who couldn't catch one.
Why this cocktail? He caught the fish; the camera gave it to someone else. Alaskan spruce and cold smoke for the uncredited work.
The Story
The only fish that star landed on camera that day was Holsinger's, and he has been suspicious of what a production makes look true ever since. This drink is Alaska in a glass — spruce, cold smoke, sharp grapefruit — poured for the person who did the actual work off camera.
