The Story
Andrew observes how guests scan a room within seconds for signals of belonging. If they don't see themselves reflected — in the faces at registration, the imagery on banners, the tone of the space — they adopt a defensive posture. They stop initiating. The room shrinks. This mezcal-and-amaro cocktail with smoked salt is that shrinking: smoky, bitter, guarded, and served with a blood orange that bleeds into the glass because exclusion leaves a mark even when no one notices.

- 1.5 oz mezcal
- 1 oz amaro
- 1 oz blood orange juice
- Smoked salt rim
- Blood orange wheel
- Rosemary sprig
Preparation
- 1.Rim a rocks glass with smoked salt.
- 2.Stir mezcal, amaro, and blood orange juice with ice.
- 3.Strain over a large ice cube.
- 4.Garnish with blood orange wheel and rosemary.
