The Rabbit Fur Sour
Pálinka (plum brandy), lemon, honey & egg white — Romanian roots, Depression-era wisdom
His grandfather was a furrier from Romania — low-margin markets collapse first
Why this cocktail? Walter's grandfather's Depression lesson: low-margin markets collapse first. This pálinka sour honors immigrant resilience.
The Story
Walter's grandfather emigrated from Romania selling rabbit fur. When the Depression came, low-margin sellers collapsed first. This pálinka sour — Hungarian-Romanian plum brandy, the spirit of Eastern European resilience — honors that immigrant wisdom. The honey sweetness is earned, not assumed. The egg white foam is fragile, like every market built on hope alone.
