This nightcap honors the 716 with the bourbon that carries the buffalo on its label — sweetened with dark maple, deepened with black-walnut bitters, and crowned with a hickory-smoked cherry. Strong, unbothered, and proudly from somewhere; the drink equivalent of never forgetting the corner you came from.

    Ingredients

    • 2 oz Buffalo Trace bourbon
    • 0.25 oz dark maple syrup
    • 2 dashes black walnut bitters
    • Smoked brandied cherry
    • Orange peel

    Preparation

    1. 1.Stir bourbon, maple, and bitters over ice until cold.
    2. 2.Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube.
    3. 3.Express an orange peel and discard.
