He served as Executive Producer of the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships, hosted by the Haudenosaunee Confederacy — the first internationally sanctioned sports tournament ever hosted by an Indigenous nation
Why this bite? Erick produced the first Indigenous-hosted international tournament. This venison on corn cake honors sovereignty and sport.
The Story
In 2015, Erick produced the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships hosted by the Haudenosaunee Confederacy in Onondaga — the first internationally sanctioned sports tournament ever hosted by an Indigenous nation. It required navigating sovereignty, international governance, and cultural protocol simultaneously. Its documentary, Spirit Game: Pride of a Nation, is in the Smithsonian's permanent collection. This venison tartare on corn cake is that event: grounded in the earth, honoring tradition, and proving the hardest events are human ones, not logistical ones.
