The 7-Eleven Hoagie
A 1" miniature submarine sandwich — salami, provolone, shredded lettuce — served on fine porcelain at the end of the night
The gala is the most stressful night of her calendar: five hundred people she genuinely knows, all owed a real conversation. "They're here to be seen, and you can't see everyone." Her post-gala ritual, unchanged for years, is a 7-Eleven hoagie.
Why this bite? Her post-gala ritual is a 7-Eleven hoagie. High-low, one inch, on good china.
The Story
An introvert who can schmooze with the best of them and does five minutes onstage and no more, hosting a room she cannot possibly finish. What she does after is drive to a convenience store and eat the one thing she would never otherwise allow herself. This bite refuses to apologize for that: gas-station food, cut to an inch, plated on porcelain with silver, because the honest ending to a formal night is usually neither.
