Followership is the word he uses constantly inside Encore. Asked to define it, he locates it entirely outside the org chart: credibility from storytelling, authenticity, trust, and building something bigger than yourself.
Why this cocktail? Leadership is whether anyone follows. Three parts that hold together without a boss.
The Story
The oldest of four boys, running his first crew, learned that authority is not conferred by a title — it is the observable fact of whether anybody is behind you. This drink is stirred, not shaken, and it is built in the glass in front of the guest so nothing is hidden: three ingredients that hold together because they belong together, not because one of them is in charge.

- 2 oz rye whiskey
- 0.75 oz sweet vermouth
- 0.25 oz amaro
- 2 dashes aromatic bitters
- Orange peel
Preparation
- 1.Build rye, vermouth, amaro and bitters in a mixing glass over ice.
- 2.Stir 30 seconds until cold.
- 3.Strain into a chilled coupe.
- 4.Express an orange peel over the top and drop it in.
