    Why Not? (Zero Proof)

Luminous orange and ginger, crowned with a tiny twisted peel like a small sun — the optimistic question, glowing in the crystal coupe

Hitchen credits Terrapinn founder Tony Steel with the company's entrepreneurial refrain: 'Why not? Let's go for it.'

Why this sip? Sunshine with a little bite: the optimistic question behind the Birmingham bet.

    The Story

You do not need a ten-year spreadsheet to recognize a promising room. Greg describes a company whose first response to possibility is 'Why not?' — a temperament he credits to Tony Steel. Fresh orange supplies the sunshine, ginger syrup the nerve, and the mineral-water bubbles he already drinks the lift. A tiny orange-peel disk, twisted so it curls like a small sun, rests on each pour — a quiet echo of the polenta sun beside it on the tray. This is our edible optimism, not a claim about a drink he orders. The question is the recipe; the glass just asks it beautifully.

Prep: 5 minYield: 12 zero-proof tasting sips, 30 ml each

    Ingredients

    • 150 ml fresh strained orange juice
    • 30 ml ginger syrup
    • 180 ml chilled sparkling mineral water
    • 12 tiny orange-peel disks, twisted
    • Optionally, a few saffron threads

    Preparation

    1. 1.Mix orange juice and ginger syrup; chill well.
    2. 2.Chill twelve petite crystal tasting coupes — the same glass used across this flight.
    3. 3.Pour 15 ml of the luminous base into each coupe and top with 15 ml sparkling water so the bubbles rise through the glow. Crown each with one tiny twisted peel disk, curl-side up; serve at once.
