    Zero to a Hundred

A shaken, high-energy cocktail that goes from calm to electric in one weekend — the show floor that broke her open and then won her over

She ran a twenty-thousand-person show with no experience, went zero to a hundred over a single weekend, cried in her hotel room — then went home and realized she had loved it.

Why this cocktail? Comic Con took her zero to a hundred in a weekend — panic, then love. This cocktail starts calm and turns electric, the tribe you can't fake.

    The Story

In 1996, Wizard handed Martha Donato Chicago Comic Con and, six weeks later, the job of firing the team and figuring it out — which meant her. She ran a twenty-thousand-person consumer show with no experience producing a formal event, went from zero to a hundred over a single weekend, and spent part of it crying in her hotel room because she didn't understand the rules. Then she went home and realized she had loved it. What she'd seen was community happening in real time — not a market, a tribe. This cocktail is that weekend: it starts composed and turns electric, the tribalism no algorithm can fake.
