The Magnificent Mile
Italian beef arancini with giardiniera aioli
Two Italian traditions collide in the Windy City
The Story
The Italian beef sandwich — thin-sliced, slow-simmered beef piled on a roll and dipped in its own jus — is Chicago's working-class masterpiece. Pair that with arancini, the Sicilian fried rice ball, and you get a collision of two Italian traditions that could only happen in Chicago. These golden, crispy spheres are stuffed with shredded Italian beef and served with a spicy giardiniera aioli that brings the heat.
