The Monticello Julep
Virginia bourbon with fresh mint, honey syrup & a touch of lavender
Inspired by the gardens & cellars of Monticello
The Story
Thomas Jefferson's wine cellar at Monticello was legendary — he spent over $10,000 on wine during his presidency (a fortune at the time) and is credited with introducing wine culture to America. But Virginia's real gift to spirits is bourbon. This julep marries Jefferson's French sophistication with Virginia's bourbon heritage, sweetened with honey from the kind of hives he kept at Monticello and perfumed with the lavender that grew in his famous gardens.
