    In Boston she led the effort to pass the Boston Residents Jobs Policy — 50% of publicly funded construction jobs to city residents, 25% to people of color, 10% to women — then organized its implementation with the Boston Jobs Coalition.

    Why this bite? Three numbers written into law. Pressed layers, cut exactly, served as one.

    The Story

    Before the White House there were the ballot fights, the Building Trades and AFL-CIO prevailing wage campaign, the Voter Registration by Mail initiative, and an ordinance that turned public money into local hands on the work. The pavé is pressed in patient layers, then divided and served back as one piece — the division is the achievement, not the flaw, and someone had to sit in the room until the numbers were written down.

    Ingredients

    • Braised oxtail
    • Thin-sliced Yukon potato
    • Clarified butter
    • Thyme
    • Black garlic purée
    • Slate or dark stone for service

    Preparation

    1. 1.Layer potato and shredded oxtail with butter and thyme; press overnight under weight.
    2. 2.Cut into 1" squares, then divide each square cleanly.
    3. 3.Sear the cut faces until crisp.
    4. 4.Set the pieces back together on a slate shard over black garlic.
